This documentary follows the lives for four people in the predominantly Kurdish Rojava area of northern Syria (West Kurdistan). There are two extraordinary aspects of their situation. Firstly the civil war, secondly the kurds’ experimental ‘democratic confederalism’, which is an attempt to run their society on directly democratic, egalitarian and secular lines.
This film provides a good context in which to understand the current struggle in Kobane.
This showing is FREE and open to all.
