ITF President Flies In For Crisis Talks On Ports Of Auckland

March 29th 2012 – Dear Mayor Brown,

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) write to you to express our anger over the way Workers in the Maritime Union of New Zealand (MUNZ) are having their good faith bargaining undermined by the unscrupulous Ports of Auckland Limited (PoAL).

We stand in Solidarity with these Workers in their condemnation of PoAL’s attempts to divide the workforce through redundancy notices, hiring of non-Unionised contracted Workers and other arcane acts.

We call for all the port Workers in Auckland to unite and organise from a grass roots Workers lead level to combat the dirty tactics campaigns of the employing class who have nothing in common with them and only their own interests at heart.

A fair deal for Auckland port Workers, for their livelihoods, their future and families is all we are calling for and are certain that you will do the right thing and intervene in this anti democratic travesty of justice.

We look forward to hearing from you with news of a positive result to this dispute with the bosses’ who seek to undermine Workers labour rights replaced.

Andy Smith, International Solidarity Liaison Officer
