The London General Membership branch of the IWW wishes to express solidarity with RMT member Caroline Leneghan in her position as a woman bringing allegations of domestic violence against a former partner in the context of a criminal justice system which places unreasonable demands on those bringing such allegations, and a wider patriarchal and sexist system which tends (including in organisations of the Left) to blame victims and protect prominent figures accused of violence. According to Caroline, she has faced these same tendencies within the RMT itself. Whilst not repeating her allegations, which still require a full and fair investigation and hearing to be properly vindicated or dismissed, IWW London General Membership Branch refers readers to Caroline’s statement (http://ow.ly/iyXGB) in order to make their own minds up, and reaffirms its solidarity with her and her fight for a fair hearing.
