At this reading group meeting we will be discussing a new collection of essays based on research by Michael Knapp, Anja Flach and Ercan Ayboga on the the democratic experiment in the predominantly Kurdish region of northern Syria.
There has been a lot of interest in the struggle against IS and for Democratic Autonomy and women’s liberation by a coalition of forces in the north. We will be exploring the values and concepts advocated, looking at the structures put in place and comparing results to stated aims. We’ll break the book into two and cover the second half in another meeting. At this session we’ll be talking up to and including chapter seven.
